Summer Night - Harvard Museum of Natural History
Thursday, August 19, 2010 Description: The Harvard Museum of Natural History hosts extended hours for its final Summer Night. Bring house guests to see the Glass Flowers and explore the museum and the new Headgear exhibition. Catch the 5:15 pm. Cambridge premiere screening of "Bugged: The Race to Eradicate the Asian Longhorned Beetle." This documentary by Emily Driscoll follows scientists, government officials and private citizens who are the front lines in the effort to eradicate this insect, among the top 100 of the world's worst invasive alien species. Asian longhorned beetles have been found in New York City and in Worcester, where more than 25,600 trees were infested and have been cut down.
Attend a 6 pm gallery tour on Stripes, Spots, and Pigments in the Animal World in the Language of Color exhibit with Harvard graduate student Hillery Metz. Join Dr. Ramananda Chakrabarti, a research associate in the Harvard Dept. of Earth and Planetary Sciences, for a 7 pm gallery talk
