Pansies are early flowering annuals (some may be perennial) derived from the Viola genus with a wide range of colors including yellow, gold, orange, purple, violet, red, white, and even black. They are very hardy plants that can survive cold temperatures preferring sunny to partly shaded areas. However, they do not like the summer heat and may not last all season.

Practice regular deadheading to extend the blooming period and water deeply at least once a week depending on rainfall.
